Title: My User Cannot See Report Versions in Cognos Viewer
Post by: buyile on 11 Dec 2009 07:57:32 AM
Good day!

Guys please help , I am working in cognos connection trying to restrict access to a group of users belonging to the 'Report Administrator' role.I have set up the permisions to read ,execute and transverse.I am also looking at disabling the studios from the users.

My problem is that having set the above pwermisions , my users are not able to view report versions even though i have set the correct  permissions up to the packadge and report level.

and any tips on customizing the UI of cognos viewer especialy the drop down menu would be highly appreaciated.

my email address is bqolo@metropolitan.co.za ,

Your Help will be highly appreacite!

Thank you in advance

hi buyile,

My recommendation for you is to reserve the 'Report Administrator's role to anyone who needs a global overview of the envirnonment. The production platform i have all users are assigned consumer access 1st giving them general access to the gui.  Additional security was setup by project. (E.G Marketing, Finance, IT, Logistics).

I'm not 100% on this but with having the users in Report Administrators, query/report studio access is inherited with the role.

Ideally a good place to assign anyone who needs a global view could also be Directory Administrators (this role is automatically assigned Query/Report Studio access, as well as Cognos administration from the Launch menu).
