generating distinct and over() in report studio

Hello All,
            I have a query item which is the sum of two other query items(eg: sales_amt+overhead_amt). When I use this query item in report studio it is generation a query with distinct and ove() by clause. It is killing the DB. I would appreciate your feedback on this issue.
