I can understand that we can do more in Business Insight Advanced other than list type reports

But can we live without Query Studio ? or Query Studio still has some advantages?

Hi,

Business Insight Advanced is basically a replacement of express authoring mode.
May be going forward IBM removes Query Studio, but as of now there are certain features of query studio which are not available in BI Advanced, like custom groups. Also, Query studio is more handy to use.

If you are upgrading from Cognos 8 to 10, there is no need to get license for Query studio user whereas for BI Advanced you need to get Advanced Business author licence which was not available earlier.

Regards,
Rahul

Business Insight Advanced (now called Cognos Workspace Advanced from the 10.2 release onwards) combines most of the capabilities of Query Studio and Analysis Studio into a single authoring environment. If you have Query Studio and it gives you all you need, then continue to use it. I would imagine that future development focus by IBM will be on Cognos Workspace Advanced rather than Query Studio, but if QS gives you what you need, just carry on with it.

MF.
