hey guys,

we are using cognos 10.1 query studio, we need to limit the number of rows while exporting data  to excel or csv format. Is there anyway to limit number of records?
for example if the query studio report has 1000 rows, i just want to export 10 or 15 rows out of it.

Any ideas or thoughts will be very helpful

thanks
Mohnish

Personally I've never heard of any such ability available in Cognos. This sounds more like an enhancement request you will need to log with Cognos Support.

That said I would suggest contacting Cognos support as there might be an advanced param that I've never heard of for this. Either way they would be able to tell you and if it doesn't exist log it as an enhancement at the same time.

Thanks Grim, I will open ticket in cognos and also put an enahncement request.

I try to limit number of rows in report studio using running - count, but its runs very slow.

Do you know is there any better way to limit the number of rows in Report in Report studio?

Custom SQL? I'm no expert when it comes to report writing so I'll let the other experts answer.

Query Studio the only way I know to limit the number of records returned is in the model but this would not allow you to full 100 Records but only print 10...

In Report Studio this is another matter you can go to the Properties for the Query and limit the number of records returned by going to the "Maximum Rows Retrieved" and setting it to your desired limit.

Please provide  me more details for the setting at the package level to limit number of rows while exporting to excel or csv.
