It would be great if anybody could provide me this info as I was  unable to get this information from any forum nor  from the IBM  site.

Hi,

If your client is using the last available version of Data Manager (10.2.1) and with the 10.2.1 fix pack 13 installed, then SQL Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 should both be supported. Although the specific Data Manager Supported Environments reports no longer render, the ones for BI server do, and Data Manager was aligned with this (it installed into the same location if both co-existed)

Hi,
Thank you for the response. My client is using Data Manager version (10.2.0),so, I would like to know will it support SQL server 2012 & Windows server 2012?
Also,if incase it's not compatible , We are planning for 2  upgrade approaches and would like to know your thoughts on this
1. Upgrade to   Data Manager Version (10.2.1) with the installation of 10.2.1 fix pack 13  to support SQL server 2012& Windows Server 2012. Please let us know the challenges if we go with this step and from where can we get this installed since the support  for this product is no longer done by IBM. Also, Will  migration Assistant  tool be installed  with the same fix pack ?

2. Upgrade to Data stage latest version to support all the environments.

Hi,

Just do the same for 10.2 as I did for 10.2.1 - look at the Supported Environments page for Cognos BI. This should tell you. It looks like Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server 2012 are both supported in 10.2 with Fix Pack 5 installed.

Upgrading from 10.2 to 10.2.1 is very easy. It is exactly the same architecture and you shouldn't have any issues. Just make sure you back up your catalogs before you upgrade, in case you need to revert for any reason. I think (although I'm not sure) you can still get the Data Manager installs for 10.2.1 as part of the DataStage Workgroup Edition software download. The fix packs are all available from fixcentral, and the same fix packs apply to Data Manager as to Cognos BI.
You won't need the Migration Assistant for this - its purpose is to help you to migrate from Data Manager to DataStage. I think the Migration Assistant is a separate install and is only available if you have registered with IBM to get it, so you'll need to check with your IBM account manager on how to get hold of it (if Mike Roberts still works there he would be the person for your account manager to contact).

Migrating from Data Manager to DataStage is a big, complex job. The Migration Assistant will do some of the work, but there is every probability you will need to re-write a lot of the processes from your builds and jobstreams.

Cheers!
