Sorting in Event Studio

My overall goal is to find when employees come and go on leave, then send an email to IT letting them know the employee's status has changed.  I would like to send emails closer to real time than a longer report at the end of a day. 

In regular Cognos I use a running-count to find the latest information on things and filter by 1 after sorting dates descending.  When I try to go in Event Studio, I've figured out a way to do a running-count in there, but I'm not so sure I'm able to do sorting.  I would like to sort descending on the Status Start Date.  Is this possible?
